Low Tide Mont St. Michel, April 2017
Transparent Watercolor
23 x 30 in (58.42 x 76.20 cm)
I took a trip to France in 2016 and had the opportunity to see and tour Mont St. Michel in Normandy, France. I was inspired to do a painting. The tide was out and the small sailboats that normally floated around the Monastery were now stuck in the sand. I feel it is a metaphor for how abandoned and stuck in the sand we all now feel and looming large in the background is this medieval structure with a dramatic sky. I believe that this Monastery stood alone and weathered many storms of which we are being ask to do right now in 2020. This was done back home in my studio.
