Amidst the sorrow and tragedy of the 2020 pandemic, its shutdown brings a welcome quietness and solitude. In the confinement of my studio, I experience a deepened joy and reverence as I paint from memory. The nonessential fades - what remains to be painted is a singular, cherished impression.
This painting, "Ocean Mist", recalls countless hours on the shoreline of Hilton Head Island, SC. A grey mist envelopes the land, sea and sky in restfulness and evokes a mystery beyond our grasp. I am reminded to tread lightly on the Earth.
