I came across this basket one day on a steep hillside walk of one of our arroyos in Santa Cruz. This was a spring day with much in bloom and very vibrant green underbrush. The basket caught my attention and made me wonder if someone was to return to claim it. Was it forgotten? Was it waiting to be filled? I liked the look, took a picture, and waited until now to paint it in pastel.
Sheltering in place is not an unfamiliar experience for most artists, including myself.
