WITH BARBARA FOX
Where are you painting from and what have you been doing to keep busy?
I am fortunate to have a large, comfortable studio just a few blocks from the main street in the beautiful village of Ellicottville, NY. I paint or draw every day, and my life has not changed much since the pandemic started here in the U.S. I miss my friends, and the spontaneity of normal life, but my normal routines of painting, house and garden work, and walking for exercise have not been affected.
How did you find inspiration from your surroundings for it?
The isolation of social distancing has affected all of us, but the fear of not having a job and financial ruin has been particularly hard for most of my friends and family. I wanted to submit a piece of art that recognized the sobering reality of the pandemic, but also illustrate a positive vision.
What is one positive that has come from this experience for you?
Appreciating connections with other people. I'm grateful that I appreciate simple activities, like taking a walk or working in my garden. And, I am very appreciative to be able to continue to work and produce art. The isolation of being an artist has been an advantage.
What is one of your favorite pieces in the collection from a fellow artist?
